Mission
To financially assist the Kiwanis Club of Lincoln, Nebraska - Lincoln Center in funding the Club's programs and projects to serve the children of the City of Lincoln and Lancaster County, Nebraska.
History
The Kiwanis Club Foundation, Inc. of Lincoln, Nebraska was incorporated in accordance with Nebraska law in March 1960. The Foundation was created to provide Kiwanis members a means to provide financial support to benevolent ideals of Kiwanis. The Corporation was formed to accept gifts, contributions, grants, funds, devises, and bequests of real and personal property and to hold, administer, invest, reinvest, and expand the same for any program or purpose that is determined by its Board of Trustees as useful or helpful to the Kiwanis Club of Lincoln, Nebraska-Lincoln Center in carrying out any of the Club’s charitable and community service objects and objectives.
Lincoln Center Kiwanis members that serve on the Board of Trustees are elected by members of the Kiwanis Club of Lincoln, Lincoln Center at the Club’s annual meeting. This action takes place every other year to afford six-year terms and to assure balanced tenure of experienced Trustees. Trustees are not eligible for more than two consecutive terms but may be elected again after a lapse of two years following the termination of the second term.
The officers of the Corporation are chosen by the Board of Trustees. All actions of the Board of Trustees are governed by the Corporation’s by-laws and the Amended and Restated Articles of Incorporation of the Kiwanis Club Foundation, Inc. of Lincoln, Nebraska filed with the State of Nebraska on February 7, 2014.
Funds administered by the Corporation shall not be administered in any manner contrary to any limitations imposed by the Articles of Incorporation of the Corporation or the requirements of Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of the United States.
The Foundation meets quarterly, the third Tuesday in February, May, August and November. All meeting annoucements for time and place are found on the Club Calendar.
